Politics ....ME ..... Really?

It wasn't long ago that I thought about my Dad and his attempt to get into politics, and how the stress got to him and he decided to pull out to save his sanity. Maybe my Dad wasn't made for politics, maybe he couldn't lie or cheat to get himself ahead, or maybe he saw what politics had become and became disillusioned with all of it.

I guess I'll never know.

What I do know however is that I've seen more political suicides in the last 5 years than ever before. The blatant spending with no thought towards the welfare of the country, the party jumping and the cry baby attitude when politicians get caught going against there mandate.

WAIT, I'm wrong, these aren't suicides, nobody ends up paying for their mistakes. All these politicians do is laugh things off, or come up with some lame reason for what happened, and how it was all an attempt to help his/her constituents. Shoot, look at MP's at there office budgets, money for entertaining(including alcohol), free trips aboard government jets ....yep,you can take your wife! Whatever happened to fiscal responsibility?

look at David Tsubouchi he suggested people try to haggle at grocery stores for better prices JUST TO MAKE ENDS MEET! He also made a sample menu that ended up having a lower nutritional value than the diet served to prisoners in Ontario jails. All this while being able to write off a bottle of wine as an entertainment expense.

Also don't forget Joe Volpe and the 11 year old twins of a former vice-president of a generic drug company, and the "donation" they made (of $5400 each) towards his campaign. I'd call that strange behavior. OH, and what about the fact that he put a $138 "dinner for 2" at an Italian Restaurant as an expense ...... yep, a write off!

Don't forget Belinda Stronach and her quick jump to the opposition when she won her riding in Newmarket. How would you feel if you voted for a party and there particular stand only to see the person you voted for jump to the other side?

politicians should be held accountable for everything they do in office. It just seems their fellows cronies always cover there ass for them. I won't get into the discussion about legislation regarding access of information and how a certain political party that pushes for 'transparency" in government is trying to to make it harder to "get the facts" through a freedom of information request. Transparency my ASS!
