Update on Lindsay, Britney, Paris ..... movie reviews

Should be a short post about "the girls"

Britney, a disaster on the VMA's, didn't move, didn't sing, lost her kids, and if I had a death pool, she'd be on it!

Paris, has left the stage .... and seems to be trying to turn herself into a mini Angelina Jolie, swearing she'll do better, going to 3rd world countries and such. Only the voters of Ontario would believe she's changed. Just temper the last statement with the fact that she also said she wanted to adopt 3 blonde haired kids and have them grow up to be just like her! Picture that...if you dare!

Lindsay, actually got her ass out of Hollywood for an extended period of rehab at an actual rehab clinic in Utah, part of her plea bargain no doubt. Let's just hope she's learned that she not invincible.

Quick movie reviews

Eastern Promises .......... 80%

Viggo Mortensen
Naomi Watts

This is a ultra violent film directed by David Cronenburg about London based crime gangs and the perils of crime hierarchy, and the phyche of a "driver" for a mob family. There is a lot more to this driver than meets the eye.

This is a star defining roll for Viggo, although I really didn't need to see him naked, I see a Academy Award nom for this roll.

In the Valley of Elah ....... 78%

Tommy Lee Jones
Charlize Theron

What a war will do to a soldier and his family.

Overly long and quite slow, but compelling and emotional well written, this is Tommy Lee Jones's defining role as an actor.

3:10 to Yuma ..... 84%

Russell Crowe
Christian Bale

An old fashion western with 2 top notch actors.

"A complicated cowboy flick where you're conflicted about whether to root for the guys in the white hats or the black hats by the time the big showdown arrives."

Kam Williams ...NewsBlaze

and

"The best Western since Unforgiven, 3:10 to Yuma is both cathartic and intelligent. While a wildly eventful action-adventure and outlaw shoot-'em-up, it's also a vibrant story of heroism, villainy and hard-earned redemption."

Bruce Westbrook .... Houston Chronicle

Enough said:)

I'm BBbbaaaacckk!

Honestly,I never thought I was so lazy when it came to updating this blog. Suffice it to say I AM:)

SSooo many thing to post about, so many things that have gone wrong in this Country, let's start.

-Youth violence-

So many kids with so little respect, I've heard horror stories about kids spitting at seniors getting off buses, showing no respect for young kids by speaking like a trucker with verbal diarrhea. We've also got the joy of kids getting stabbed, or threatened for simply having an Ipod. Little 12 year old girls being threatened with violence for a few bucks in their pockets.

My opinion ... same as before .... toughen up the YCJA ..... make it 14 for violent offences, and lengthen terms(5 times what they are now), instead of 18 months for robbery with a weapon make it 7-8 years.

- The newly imposed 50mph over the limit law

- Although I whole-heartedly agree that nobody needs to go 150KPH on the highway, this new law gives police WAY too much power. They now have the right to suspend a license and tow a car for 7 days based on anything they want, squeal a tire and the cops wants to be a prick, you can say goodbye to your car for a week. It doesn't have to be a major offense, and even if you win a court case it's still on your record, and that means the Insurance industry can, AND WILL increase your rates. Also don't forget the towing an storage costs.

Hasn't everybody come to a turn too quickly and their tires make a squealing when you go around the corner?? Hasn't everybody revved a car up to much(touchy clutch, different shoes ETC..) and accidentally squawked a tire??

Sure, everybody caught going 50 over CAN and SHOULD be charged with racing, but the law should be for speeding offenses NOT regular driving offenses. OH, you can also lose your car based on Hearsay from other drivers, YEP, a couple of people say you were driving aggressively and BAM goodbye car! Just food for thought.

- The dollar being at par

Sure, it's fun for a little while. it feels great to buy a few things from the States, but at what cost?? Don't forget that Canada relies on the U.S. for a HUGE percentage of trade, and we count on this trade for the majority of our income. We;ve already started to see a slowdown. I'd be quite happy with the dollar sitting somewhere in the 85 cent range.

The only really good thing to come out of this is the uproar over the amount of gouging that wholesalers and retailer have been forcing the consumer to pay. It's easy to compare prices when you can look for the indentical product in the States with the same dollar, and people are seeing the HUGE difference in prices we pay. Just look at the difference between a 2008 Corvette in the U.s. VS the price in Canada ......$46 110 U.s. VS $69 500 Canadian ... a $23 390 difference ...HUH ... we're paying a 50% premium .... sure, based on economy of scale we SHOULD be paying a little more, say 10%, but 50%??

The Provincial Election

UGH, Am I correct in assuming that people believe it's better to have the devil you know in power over the devil you don't know??

Dalton McGuinty is a pathetic choice for Premier of Ontario, but as is the way, Ontario latches on to the silliest of things and doesn't let go. The year was the separate school funding mess, The Tories were for the Liberals against. I wonder why people don't see that Mr M simply lied to us from the beginning, "no new taxes" was his declaration last election and within 3 months he pulled the largest single tax increase ever out of his ass. What about the "taxpayers promise" that he made when he was elected remember the pledge he drafted and signed when he got into office?? That was quickly forgotten, and people still voted this bugger in UGH!

Brent .... more to come!

P.s. The new Accord looks GREAT!
